Our Novice team played a hard, well fought tournament this past weekend! Tying the first game against Loyalist 4-4 we saw the best match-up of the tournament. Maison made great saves and the team played their positions well. Game 2 was against Grand Valley and we won 8-1. The team represented itself on the ice, in the arena and in the community with nothing but respect and maturity. In between games you could find the Coyotes playing mini sticks in the "Mini Stick arena" that Norwood has to offer (which of course is amazing and probably what these kids will remember about this tournament for years to come), watching the other games and just spending time together.
We returned to the arena for the finals round to find out that we were tied in the tournament with Loyalist at 3 points each. It came to goals against and the 8-1 win put us 1 goal behind Loyalist (8-0 win) and sent us into the B championship. So close! The team played Campbellford in the Finals and showed their true colours once again, ending the warm up with what I think will remain our traditional team hype in front of our net before the game, sticks coming together like a tee pee above them! Who are we? COYOTES *howl* We fought hard, played great and won 10-6! Maison was named MVP from the Campbellford team and all the kids received medals.
It was a wonderful day overall, some great teamwork was shown and we left Norwood with our heads held high! GOOD JOB TEAM!!!
