Great Playoff !!
The Kawartha Peewee`s have been eliminated in the second round of the OMHA playoffs. But they certainly did not go down easy !!

In round number one they would square off against a Tweed team from outside of there regular league play. It would be a best of 5 to see who moves on. The boy`s where hungry and had to be at there best, as Tweed was ready themselves. Tweed not only had a very big Peewee goalie, but a very good one too. They also had a very dominating forward who had to be kept in check.

The Kawartha boy`s would be to much to handle though. The defense group of Aidan Collins, Jacob Downey, Jeff Benoit and Joel Bailey where all solid as a rock and Jacob Curtin was stellar in goal. The entire forward group would all find the score sheet in some capacity and the boy`s rolled through in a 3 game sweep. 4-1, 5-2 and 4-1 scores.

In round two it would be the always heated and intense rivalry with the undefeated Mariposa Lightning.

The Coyotes where more than ready for the test. Storming out in game 1 and taking a commanding 5-1 win. Jacob Curtin made three huge saves when the game was 2-1 and some timely scoring from Reice Nicholson, Carder Lake and Chad Macdonald sealed the deal.

Game 2 was a bit of a chess match in the first two periods, but Mariposa would take a 2-0 lead into the intermission. The coyotes would make a couple small adjustments between periods, and came out fired up in the third. Carder Lake would get the first one early, and Tyler Roche would tie it up with less than a minute left to send it to overtime. The boy`s had a few great chances in OT, but one bad break led to a fluky Mariposa goal and the boy`s would fall 3-2.

Game 3 was yet another see saw battle. Mariposa would again take a 2-0 lead to the third period. But, the Coyotes had some more third period magic. Tyler Roche would get the team started, followed by Chad Macdonald. Then with less than three minutes left Carder Lake would feed a beautiful pass to Tyler Roche who would get his second of the game to take the lead 3-2. The defense group and Jacob Curtin would lock it down for the last 2 minutes for the complete come back and 3-2 win.

Game 4 would be yet another clone of games 2 and 3. With Mariposa up by a score of 2-0 again after 2 periods. The Coyotes just simply could not find there stride coupled with Mariposa being to strong to blow another third period lead. The Coyotes would lose this one 2-0, forcing game 5 !!

Game 5 would turn out to be less dramatic than the last four. The Lightning cashed in on a couple of first period chances and would take this one 5-1 for the series win !! The Coyotes never gave up. Down 4-0 to start the third, Reice Nicholson would find the net and give the boy`s some life. A couple of tough penalty calls would take the wind out their sails.

Its to bad one team had to lose. It was a clean hard fought series by both teams. Myself, Pete and Joby are extremely proud of the boy`s accomplishments all season. They played their hearts out right to the very end, even when the odds where stacked against them. These are things no coaching staff could ever teach. We have a great group of kids.

Great job boy`s !!! We still have lots of fun hockey to play.
