Atom White Wins!
It came down the last two minutes of the game. The arena staff were at the zamboni door, ready to come on the ice. The timekeepers asked whether the game was to be curfewed. The arena staff said "play on!" So we did.
After a minute and a half played in our end and many keen saves by our goalie (with great help from our defence cleaning rebounds), the puck was finally cleared... ICING!!
A line change with 30 seconds left and a face off in our end. Tied 2-2... A face off win and a 3 on two rush down into Woodville's end. A shot, a save, a rebound, a scramble, on to the stick of a waiting coyote.... GOAL!!! 18 seconds left on the clock and all we had to do was keep the puck on our sticks... WE DID IT!
Congratulations Atom White! You fought for that puck every second of the game, played your positions, helped your goalie by not allowing the other team to get many changes in front of our net, and won our first game of the season! Many of you played the best we've seen you play this year! Way to go COYOTES!!
