About Our Staff

All coaches on the Kawartha Coyotes U16 Rep team are non-parent coaches, committed to providing an unbiased, development-focused environment for all players.

Coaching Philosophy

Our coaching philosophy is centered around development, accountability, and team-first hockey. At this level, our goal is to help players grow not just as athletes but as people —focusing on character, work ethic, and discipline both on and off the ice. We believe in creating a competitive, respectful, and supportive environment where players are pushed to reach their potential while maintaining a love for the game.

Vision for the Team

For the 2025–2026 season, the Kawartha Coyotes U16 Rep team will emphasize:

High-tempo practices designed to build speed, decision-making, and conditioning.

Structured systems that promote team play in all three zones, with clear expectations for roles and responsibilities.

Open communication and leadership development, encouraging players to take ownership of their game and be accountable to themselves and their teammates.

Balance of development and competition, with a commitment to maximizing team and individual growth throughout the season.

Approach

Our approach to coaching includes:

● Building a strong foundation through skill development, especially skating, puck handling, and positional awareness.

● Creating a positive team culture rooted in respect, effort, and unity.

Regular feedback to help players understand their strengths and areas for improvement.

● Focusing on preparation and professionalism, helping players transition toward the next levels of hockey & life.
